Google Reader + Helvetica = Helvetireader

For those who know me know, that I have a insatiable love for news. The tough thing was keeping track of the more than 300 websites that I like to visit on a daily basis.

In walks Rss feeds and a feed reader. These tools allow me to track all my favorite news, blogs, and information all in one concise and manageable way.

Now, for as long as I’ve been using the convenience of Google Reader, I couldn’t complain about many things. For starters, its totally free! Additionally, it’s constantly being updated to function more robustly, and intuitively.

One knock, if there would be any, would be its physical aesthetic. That’s where Helvetireader comes into play. It takes all the awesome functionality and convenience that is Google Reader and rolls it into a super lick-able Helvetica skin.

Feeds have never looked so good.

kcato. - These are two of my favorite things: Helvetica and Google Reader. However, the interface seems a little…um bare?

I have a zillion feeds, so I need a grid or something to help keep things organized. Ugh…You never know, It might grow on me. :/

Carl McKinney - Yeah, the interface does seem a little limited, but i’ve grown to like that. I do miss the ability to edit tags w/ the command versus using the mouse to hit toggle between tags. I also want the feed information back. I don’t use it much but its a nice feature.

Hopefully he’s working on a solution to incorporate those. Helvetireaders developer is on twitter. Thats where he posts new information about the skin.

Lemon out!
