Well, it’s that time of the year again. The time of the year where we all congregate with our friends, families, or both, in order to celebrate the wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving.
This year was no different than the past, in that, my sibs and I found ourselves over at mom’s pitching in to help set the stage for the perfect family feast. Peedie elected to spend this holiday celebration with her father, which was fine considering she’s spent the last two Thanksgiving holiday with my family.
My task of the day was mac and cheese. After selecting an simple recipe from one of mom’s several cookbooks I was off to the races. Being that I try to eat as consciously as possible I amended the recipe which, called for some pretty basic ingredients, to include a more organic list of items. My Brother, who is diametrically opposed to eating organic / holistically meet me with a bit of opposition as I added things like rbg growth hormone free sharp white cheddar, Horizon milk, and organic butter. For the shells, I elected to incorporate Annie’s brand pasta which, is one of our favorites.
Merrari swept the porch and took out the trash while Quanus helped by cleaning the steps and organizing the table for the meal. Mom handled the lion-share of cooking, preparing the turkey, potato salad, sweet potato pies, yams, greens, and dressing.
Merrari’s friend Laura chose to spend the holiday with us this year and her sense of humor was a great addition to, what could be interpreted as, an already satyrical, joke laden Thanksgiving dinner.
