So it finally happened! After several weeks of recording various songs for ‘The Walk’, we finally got to perform some of our new material to a crowd. The event was a small exposition called the Black Cultural Festival which, took place at Franklin Park.
I couldn’t have been more happy with the performance, as it was a great way for me, having never performed in front of a crowd before, to get acclimated with performing. We arrived to the park around 2:30p.m. Saturday afternoon and managed to catch the tail end of a reggae act, C Militani. After their performance, we witnessed the vocal feats of Tasha, a wonderful gospel singer. Her music was honest, genuine, and gave you a “feel good” quality.
Next was us! They announced our name, “Yall give it up for E-L-7″, lol. Not having been a cloud in the sky, I guess you could really consider it our day in the sun. We managed to perform three songs within our twenty minute time allotment which, didn’t leave us feeling hurried or out of sync.
The first song we began with was aptly our “Intro” song. The Intro is a fun, get up off your seat song with minimal rapping and more room for talk. Once finished with the Intro, we went straight into our song “The Armor”. Our last track was a beat that I did which, utilizes an Earth, Wind, and Fire loop. The song is called “Fit For Kings” and it was clearly to most engaging of all the tracks.

All in all the event was fantastic. I loved that I we were able to perform our first show in an area which I have such great pride and love for. Hopefully we’ll have many, many, many more to share. ![]()

After the show, we tripped to the Northstar for some locally produced goodness!!! Yess!!!
