On Sunday Peedie and I engaged in our first ever virtual race, the Nike+ Human Race. The concept for this race was very similar to other races I’ve run but, the premise was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.
Check out our race route, competing friends, and Olde Towne East info after the bump.
The “virtual” aspect of the race allowed for runners all over the world to compete in this global 10K race. Participants were able to select a host of charities and raise funds for their favorite cause. Most small town runners were able to compete at their leisure, scheduling the 10k for anytime during the day.
Major cities held formal events centered around The Human Race complete with large scale musical groups, exhibitors, and all the race day fanfare. Our friends, Candice and Karim out in Los Angeles were greeted by Kanye West + Common at the finish line. Check out his blog for more images from the concert.
Here’s our run through Olde Towne. Our route is denoted with the light orange line.
It’s a pretty straight forward jaunt, with minimal surface and elevation changes. We both love heading back down east on Franklin Park South, as it makes us feel like we’re almost home!
