“Forlorn Downtown mall waits …” The Columbus Dispatch

The Columbus Dispatch wrote:

…..”I don’t think the extent of the challenges here were fully recognizable when we took (City Center) over,” Coleman said. “The economy is impacting the private sector substantially, and we’re depending on them to make this happen.”

Residents have chimed in with ideas on what to do with the mall. Among the wackier proposals: an indoor ski slope and a casino.

“It’s kind of hard to put together a business plan on something that’s illegal in the state of Ohio,” Coleman said of the casino idea.

But Coleman and leaders of the Capital South Community Urban Redevelopment Corp., which is working with the city on the mall’s future, say progress is being made, even though the May-June goal they’d originally discussed for a plan to be announced has come and gone.
